An heirloom portrait is a classic, often a vignette-style photograph of children. Photos are intended to be timeless and cherished by family, and a family keepsake.
Heirloom portraits often emphasize childhood's innocence, wonder, and joy, capturing the essence of a child's personality.
Between the ages of 1-12 is a great age for a Heirloom Portrait! As long as your child can sit up on their own, and ideally can reliably sit still for 5 minutes, they are the right age. The sweetspot is before they start to lose their baby teeth.
My studio is located in the GoggleWorks, but for a travel + setup fee, I can bring my setup to you if you have the space.
These are portraits of the head and shoulders only, so the collar and top of the outfit are the most important. I suggest light or neutral colors, free from logos or patterns.
For girls, smocked bishop dresses are popular, even though the smocked and bishop dresses don’t have a collar, the smocking creates the visual effect of a collar by bringing the focus towards the face. The same is true of any special detailing, such as lace or ribbons. While they aren’t technically collars, they bring focus to the face.
For younger boys, Peter Pan collars are wonderful. Try to select a top with a collar to bring the focus to the face. For older boys, this may be a plain white button-down shirt.

After the initial session, I will send you a proofing gallery of the best images with a light edit. We can also sit down together to go through the images. Once you pick your favorites, we design single-image wall art or a composite.
